I can smell it in the air. I can see it in the frothy, silky goodness of my pumpkin spice lattee. I can feel it around my neck, as a warm, rust colored scarf with last Fall’s parfume.
This month I am going to work in advance. I’m going to drink more water and get more sleep. This month I’m going to learn from last month, and all the months prior. I’m going to be the best friend, the best sister, the best girlfriend, and the best daughter I can be. I’m going to smile, just because, and laugh off what doesn’t matter.
This month I’m going to look up the French words I don’t know. I’m going to memorize the presidents and countries and capitals—I should have learned that all in the 5th grade. I never did.
This month I’m going to vote. I’m going to make a difference.
This month I’m going to help whoever I can help, and I’m going to love as much as I can. I’m going to send thank you notes, and hold the door open, and apologize when I should, and compliment when deserved.
This month I’m going to be busy. But October, I think, will be a beautiful month.

Showing off your holiday pics is so dated; the way forward to let people know where you’ve been on your travels is with the My Scratch Map. A personalised map of the world, the idea is to scratch off the places you’ve visited to reveal colourful, geographical detail underneath, making it stand out. Not only is it a decorative, visual piece to hang in your house, it’s also a more discreet way of bragging about your hols.
